Tim Hortons World 3 on 3 Street Hockey Championship
Rules:
1. This is a fun event that offers both a competitive and recreational level of play. The goal of the organizers is to provide an enjoyable and safe environment for players and spectators – rain, shine or snow!!
2. Teams are guaranteed a minimum of four, twenty-minute games. A face off at centre starts the game. There are no stoppages in play unless due to an injury.
3. Teams will consist of a minimum of 4 players (including goalie) and a maximum of 10 players in the adult divisions and a minimum of 7 players (including goalie) and a maximum of 10 players in the youth divisions. All substitutions are made on the fly.
4. Playing surface is approximately 56’ x 88’. Standard Hockey nets will be used.
5. When a goal is scored, half court rule applies.
6. The tournament clock manages all games. There is grace period of 10 minutes if a team is late beyond 10 minutes, they forfeit the game. Games will not be rescheduled.
7. Each playing surface will have one Game Official who has full authority on governing the game and monitoring play. ALL CALLS MADE BY THE GAME OFFICIALS ARE FINAL AND ALL ISSUES AND DISPUTES WILL BE HANDLED BY THEM.
8. If the ball goes out of bounds, possession of the ball is given to the non-offending team at the point of exit.
9. There will be no tie games in round robin. In the event of a tie there will be a best of three shoot out (must be 3 different shooters). If still tied after first three shooters, then it is one for one (can be the same shooter each time).
10. If there are tie games during the semi finals or finals. Sudden death goal will apply.
11. Minor infractions / penalties include the following: shoving, pushing, tripping, slashing, etc. Minor infractions during the game will result in a penalty shot.
12. Major infractions / penalties will be called for: verbal abuse, intentional slashing; fighting, intentional body checking. Major infractions during the game will result in a penalty shot or possible ejection from the game.
13. Fights will NOT be tolerated and will result in an automatic ejection of the team or individuals (Left to Officials discretion).
14. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to add, remove or change rules.
STANDINGS AND PLAYOFFS: Playoff format will be finalized and made available to teams prior to the tournament. This depends on how many teams register in each division.
RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT: (May change subject to liability insurance requirements)
Helmet (CSA Approved) Mandatory - facemask or shield- Mandatroy under age 18. Optional (but reccommended) for adult players.
Shin Pads (hockey or ball hockey acceptable)
Gloves (optional)
Goalies: Full gear – Goalie sticks for goalies only.
INSURANCE: Specific to this event, we have arranged for additional coverage for 1,000 participants and officials.
ALL TEAMS MUST HAVE HOME (WHITE) AND AWAY (DARK) JERSEYS. EVENT ORGANIZERS WILL PROVIDE GAMES BALL ONLY. NO PRACTICE BALLS WILL BE PROVIDED.
