Our Current Project
The goal of The Give 2012 is $750,000!
It was been over 20 years since the New Brunswick Heart Centre first opened its doors and there have been many medical firsts since. It has also been over 20 years since the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation focused its fundraising on this vital component of our hospital team. Over 100,000 patients have walked through the doors of our Heart Centre over the last 20 years and those patients have been greeted with support and expertise that is second to none in this country.
This year, our NB Heart Centre team came to us with a wish-list. This list included equipment that would support patients through both cardiac catheterization and life-saving open-heart surgery.
Among the items the Give 2012 campaign for the NB Heart Centre will work to purchase are two (2) complete heart/lung bypass machines. These incredible machines act as a patient’s heart and lungs while the heart is bypassed, carefully and accurately oxygenating a patient’s blood and maintaining the blood’s circulation.
This machine delivers critical accuracy during a highly specialized procedure. Our doctors pride themselves in putting patients back into their lives – back into the lives of their loved ones.
The purchase of these items will greatly and immediately benefit New Brunswick cardiac surgery patients. Over the life of the machines, well over 60,000 New Brunswickers --your family, your neighbours -- will directly benefit from your generosity.
